Terms of Use

Effective date: 5 July 2026

Acceptance of these terms

findmeaschool.au (“findmeaschool.au”, the “service”) is operated by Portable Labs, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using findmeaschool.au you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility

findmeaschool.au is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The service is designed for parents, carers and guardians researching schools — not for use by children.

Accounts and security

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in your account, for keeping your credentials confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend accounts to protect the service or other users.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service for any unlawful purpose;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts or our systems;
  • scrape, harvest or bulk-extract data from the service, or resell it;
  • interfere with or disrupt the service (including probing, overloading or circumventing rate limits);
  • misuse the AI assistant, including attempts to generate harmful or abusive content;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation.

School data — accuracy disclaimer

School information on findmeaschool.au is compiled from public datasets and sources (including the Victorian Department of Education, ACARA and Wikidata) and may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. School zones, fees, results, scores and rankings are indicative only.

Always verify important information directly with the school or the relevant education authority before making enrolment, financial or relocation decisions. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or currency of any school data, and listing a school is not an endorsement.

AI assistant — content disclaimer

The AI chat assistant generates responses automatically and may produce inaccurate, incomplete or misleading output. AI responses are general information only — they are not educational, legal, financial or other professional advice, and you should not rely on them as such. Verify anything important through official sources.

Intellectual property

The service — including its software, design, branding and the way we compile and present data — is owned by Portable Labs or its licensors. Underlying public datasets remain subject to their own licences, which are attributed on our Sources page. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Your content and feedback

You retain ownership of content you submit (such as chat messages and feedback). You grant us a licence to use, store and process that content to operate and improve the service. Feedback you provide may be used to improve the product without obligation or compensation to you.

Service provided “as is”

findmeaschool.au is an early-access product provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about the service, and we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or continuously available. Features may change or be withdrawn at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Portable Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — including decisions made in reliance on school data or AI output. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, or discontinue the service (or parts of it) with reasonable notice where practicable. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers and limitations of liability) will survive.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
